In the following years, Jack Vance published several other science fiction stories and the tales of the Dying Earth, set in a very distant future where science is indistinguishable from magic. I was prompted to read this by Subterranean Press's announcement of a collection of short stories set in the same world, a project which has some great writers contributing. The big December 2000 omnibus Tales of the Dying Earth includes The Dying Earth, The Eyes of the Overworld, Cugel's Saga and Rialto the Magnificent.
